ps_dahiya, I see your point. I took the first diagnostic test to see where I stood, and I took 2 old paper tests only to get an idea of the tests after some initial prep. The kaplan diagnostic test is recommended by the kaplan book to be the first one to do. I do not plan to take frequent tests from now on.

I am spending most of my time now analyzing my problems and working on them. Since you asked, here is a quick run down

a) When I started, my quant sucked and verbal was relatively better.
b) Quant improved sharply once I brushed my skills, but verbal improved slowly
c) I realized that verbal wasn't my strength! my weakest was SC because I'm awful in formal recognition of grammar. So I'm working hard at overcoming it and I think I'm making some progress.

I do keep a detailed log of my performance. Every time I do practise tests or full tests, I record the book/material, the section, number of questions attempted, how many correct and wrong, time taken, performance % and notes. And in due time I want to see how I'm improving. Right now, in terms of %, my quant ranges from 86 to 91% (both PS and DS), while SC hovers at 70%.

Neverthelss, thanks for the straight feedback, I'll try not to go overboard with tests!

Great going. I did not mean to offend you, this was just my point of view. My take would be to work 60-70% on verbal and 30-40% on quant.
