Hello,
I had a quick question about a study plan for the GMAT as I begin the process of building out a study plan. If I take the GMAT in January of 2021 but have an internship this upcoming summer with very intense hours (investment banking) that will not allow me to study in a focused manner. In light of that, which of the following plans would be more effective:
Plan 1. Intensive prep between August (following the completion of my internship) and December of 2020 to take the exam in January of 2021.
Plan 2. Prep between now (April) and June, with limited prep throughout the summer and movement to an intensive study plan in the fall of 2020.
Essentially, what I'm trying to ask:
Is a 3-5 month intensive study period more or less effective than a 5-7 month plan with a 2-month gap in focused study (due to the intensive hours of my internship this summer)?

You ask a good question; unfortunately, there likely isn't anyone here who knows for sure how YOU study best. Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores though - and in both of your options, you've accounted for at least that amount of study - so either option might be fine.
Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

2) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
