What are the advantages and Disadvantages of the GMAT Exam?

Advantages:
    1. It helps in polishing the part of the brain that rarely gets used in the day-to-day life, taking some rust off that area.
    2. It (hopefully) strengthens the comprehension skills.
    3. It most certainly keeps one engaged for at least three to four months (or much longer!!)

Disadvantages:
    1. It is a costly exam and retake requires even stronger desire to slog the whole stuff again and then pay the fees as well
    2. It requires one to spend a lot of time and effort in front of an electronic screen affecting the eyesight.
    3. It keeps one engaged for at least three to four months (considering one has better plans to spend that time)

Hi meenakshibuild,

You ask an interesting question. Is there a particular reason why you are wondering about the advantages and disadvantages of the GMAT?

Hi meenakshibuild,

You've phrased your question in a bit of a vague way. If you're interested in how a high GMAT Score can be beneficial for you, then the immediate value is that a higher Score makes you more attractive of an applicant when you apply to Business School (so having that higher Score should increase your chances of getting into higher-ranked/more-competitive MBA Programs). Beyond that, many Scholarships involve a GMAT Score 'component', so if your application plans are based around earning Scholarship money, then a high GMAT Score might be a 'requirement' to attending School. Beyond the School-related benefits, some Companies (for example, in the Finance Sector) ask job applicants for their GMAT Scores as part of the interview process - meaning that a high GMAT Score might actually help you to secure a future job.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
