Hi eled34,

It all depends on availability at the test center. If there are available appointments in June, then there should not be any issues moving up your test date. Also, since quant seems to be your weakness, if you want some specific advice regarding how to improve your GMAT quant skills, feel free to reach out. Also, you may find it helpful to read the following article:

Hi eled34,

Studying for the GMAT now - far in advance of when you'll actually "need" your Score - is a smart choice. That having been said, you have to be careful about confusing "quantity" of study with "quality" of study. I've never asked anyone to study 30+ hours a week - and while it's great that you might have the available time to study that much, with that number of study hours, you would run the risk of 'burning out' before Test Day (and that is something that we want to avoid). If you are going to continue to study that much, then I suggest that you take one hour "off" for every two hours of study. For example, you could study for 2 hours, then stop for an hour, then study for another 2 hours, then take an hour off, etc.

Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's possible that you will continue to improve over time. Based on your practice CAT dates so far, I assume that you'll take your next CAT in about 3-4 days. Once you have that next result, you should post back here and we can see if you're continuing to progress and how you might adjust your studies going forward.

Thanks, Rich and Scott! Rich, I just took my 5th CAT (using Manhattan Prep). My score was identical to CAT #4: 660 (44Q / 36V). I am happy that the result seems to confirm that the improvement from CAT #3 to CAT #4 was not a huge aberration. That said, I am still struggling mightily with Quant, while Verbal has been remarkably consistent (scoring V36 on 4/5 CATs). I am beginning to use Manhattan's Advanced Quant book more. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Note that I had strings of 7 and 6 incorrect 700-800 level Quant questions on each of the last two CATs, respectively... yikes! Any suggestions there? I also seem to be struggling with time, so I am quickly guessing on 2-5 700-800 level Quant questions per CAT.

All the best

Eric

Hi eled34,

The MGMAT CATs are generally regarded as being a little tougher than the Official GMAT, so your recent CAT Scores are likely a good sign of your overall progress.

Many GMATers become too fixated on the 'implied level' of the questions that they're working on - instead of what really matters: defining WHY they're getting questions wrong and becoming more efficient at approaching the overall Exam. It's also worth noting that just because a 3rd party describes a question as "700 level" does not necessarily make it so.

With this most recent CAT, here are a couple of questions to consider:
1) How many questions did you get wrong in each section because you made a silly/little mistake?
2) In the Quant section, how many questions did you spend MORE than 3 minutes on (and what fraction of those did you get wrong?)?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
