As we are aware that GMAC classifies a section into 4 parts, the verbal section can be spread in to 4 parts of 9 questions each. What needs to be the ideal time to be spent on each part? This depends on the value and complexity of each part. The first 9 questions are very crucial to score building and the experimental questions may be only one or max two. So, here we shall spend around 2 minutes per questions i.e. using up 18 minutes of our time. The next 2 parts i.e. 10-18 and 19-27 will have moderate number of experimental questions i.e. around 2-3 in each part. So, here we must spend around 18 minutes and 17 minutes respectively. Now we are giving 2 minutes per question to first 18 questions because we need high accuracy initially to push the score up. So far we have exhausted 18+18+17 minutes. Now we are left with last 9 questions and 12 minutes. You may feel 12 minutes is less, but in actuality most students spend even less than 8 minutes here. 12 minutes is safe enough time as we may experience less experimental questions here as students are usually in a hurry.
P.S. This time-spread applies to an average student. Once a student starts scoring above 650, this might change!
