Hi Everyone,

I've been preparing for GMAT for about couple of months now, and I am planning to give the exam within this month or so. As I progress on my daily routine of practicing 600 to 700+ questions in sets of 20-10-10 (SC-CR-Q), I've realized, on an average over the past 2 weeks, I am scoring pretty much the same in all the 3 formats. SC - 7/10, CR -7/10, Q - 9/10.

Can someone guide me to overcome this stagnation and meet my goals of getting a 720+?

Just to give you a bit of background on the daily process, I spend time, in between my work throughout the day, giving practice timed tests on GMAT club itself. (3 sets, 20SC, 20CR, 10Q)

bhatla17, I think a metric such as an average of 7/10 score in SC doesn't really tell much. In my opinion, a better measure is accuracy in a section, such as SC, across different difficulty level of questions as it will help you understand the preparation level in finer details. Moving on, I suggest you calculate your accuracy topic wise in each section, and then work towards maintaining your strengths and improving on your weaknesses. Lastly, analyse each question in depth. Try to understand why the correct answer choice is right and why the incorrect answers choices are wrong. Doing so will help you learn more by solving fewer questions than by simply solving a large pool of questions without thoroughly analyzing each of them. By the way, have you taken any mock tests?

Thanks Siddharth, the score 7/10 is the accuracy itself. Basically i get 70% questions rights in SC/CR and 80% in Q. Having said that what accuracy should I strive for to get 720+ score?

Also don't you think getting into topic wise examination would be a bit too overwhelming? Where does one draw the line!

bhatla17 - First, there is no such thing called "learning curve". You just need to persevere through this time and focus on the end goal: a solid GMAT score. For motivation, I suggest you find the real purpose of taking the test. I would recommend that you regularly visit the websites of your target business schools, talk to other applicants, develop a study group, find people who have the same vision, etc. Please do not let up. For additional push, I recommend that you read a few success stories available in our forum; these stories highlight the highs and lows of test-takers' GMAT experience.

While working through sets of practice questions and quizzes can help you to hone individual skills, the only practical way to assess how you might score on the Official GMAT is to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT under realistic testing conditions that match up with what you will face when you take the Official GMAT.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied in total? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
