Just curious if any other fellow members were charged an additional $12.50 consumption tax when you registered for the test? (currently 5% CT here in Japan, but scheduled to double after Prime Minister Koizumi steps down next month, subsequently bringing the new test fee <plus tax> to $275. )
The last I recall, the registration fee was a flat $250. Is this a Japan only policy, or does each country tax it`s test takers at different rates, if at all

registered in the US - was 250. Guess it's got something to do with Japan.

In the UK we are charged 293 dollars including tax. When i took it in China it was 250 (that was pre-Pearson times though)
Great policy Tony (Blair)---taxing higher education. VAT 17.5%
Why would a government want to tax someone, who ,if successful is going to end up paying more in income contributions at a later date????
