I thought it might be nice to share some tips on guessing strategies for a reserve (contingency) option when all else fails and you simply can't figure out the problem or you are low on time.
Scenario #1: The clock flashes 4:59 seconds and you just started V problem #35. What do you do

In my humble opinion, it's better to try and solve 3~4 problems at normal pace than to just skim through the last six problems. Statistically, to give yourself only 30-45 seconds to solve a CR can be really risky, even for the most adept testaker. I'd rather nail half and then skim 20 secs or so and make educated guesses on the last two or three questions.
Any other thoughts?

From what I have heard, the last few questions affect your score by only 10-30 points, so if you really run out of time, just guess. You're penalized more for not finishing than for wrong answers at the end.

I have been following similar approach for the scenario you mentioned.
However, here is another scenario I come across - Say you only have 5 mins left and have about 7 or 8 questions to go, starting with an RC and followed by few SC/CR. In this scenario, I have been guessing RC and moving on to SC/CR. Because for me, RCs take anywhere between 3 - 5 mins, before I take on the questions. So no point in reading the RC, when I know I won't have much time to asnwer the questions. I might as well guess and the spend the time on subsequent SC/RC.
What do people think of this?
