Hi Friends,
Namaskar!

I have been consistently getting 640-650 in my mock tests (I use Manhattan Mocks and Experts' Global Mocks). Here are the result of my mocks:

July 23 Mock 1 640 (Q44 V34) Manhattan CAT
Sept. 19 Mock 2 640 (Q45 V33) Manhattan CAT
Nov 11 Mock 3 630 (Q46 V30) Experts' Global
Dec 3 Mock 4 640 (Q48 V30) Experts' Global
Dec 17 Mock 5 580 (Q42 V29) Manhattan CAT
Jan 3 Mock 6 650 (Q45 V34) Manhattan CAT

My target score is 720, and I will be happy with 700 or 710 also (no option). I am planning to take GMAT Exam at the end of this Jan. So, I can't survive this battle more. I want to push my Quant score to Q49 and Verbal score to V 38 or 39. That's all. So can you please suggest me how should I do so.

More about my CAT result:
1. I am mostly stumped by 700 level SC questions and most of them take me more than 2 mins to solve, and getting wrong most of the time.
2. I found that in my CR, I don't have consistent error. I am getting a 700 level strengthen question right, while getting another 700 level strengthening question
wrong. And overall, I do have very low accuracy on overall CR (even in 600 level questions).
3. In RC, reading speed is my problem, not in short passage but in long science, culture, history and literature passages. And they are overwhelming as well.
4. In quant, I get to see lots of 700 level questions (also in VERBAL), while I could not find consistent mistake in any topic. How to improve in such scenario?
Though I have phobia with Absolute value, Inequalities, Probability and Comb, and Coordinate Geometry.

5. THE MOST IMPORTANT: Lack of Test Taking, Timing and Skipping/Guessing Skills is my biggest issue. For instance, If I do well on verbal, get some 600 level questions right, then I start to see 700 level questions (I can't even sense the difficulty level of question while taking test), which demand more time devotion to get them right. In that way I tend to spend more than allocated time overall on them. And when I reach middle of the test, OH! I am 3-5 mins behind the time (that I spent 3-5 mins more overall). Then I start to RUSH. And make silly mistakes. My last 5 questions tends to be horrible. (AN INTERESTING FACT: My score tend to be around V38-39 and Q47-48 while I am in 15th questions or near, in most of my mocks)

So, what might be the issue that is pulling my score down? And how should I overcome this to achieve my target score, within 25 days? How should I practice questions? Read concepts? Allocate time to each sections? Basically how shall I improve on both quant and verbal to reach my target (V39 Q49)?

Thank You!!!

Hi Mck2023,

I'm not sure how you prepared but it seems very random to me. You must have mostly focused on practicing questions. Please don't do that. I have done that before and I'm telling you it doesn't fetch you any great results. Instead, choose a good resource, learn the right methods and strategies (because there are high chances that you have not focused on them), do the prep in a proper way.

Do not just shuffle across resources. Be clear of what to study on a given day. It's not about the number of questions or the number of resources you use but it's about the process you follow. I'm happy that I could realize that because that helped me improve my score from 570 to 720. So, make sure you do your prep in the right way. You can go through my debrief to understand a few tips and the right approach to prepare for GMAT.

Hi Namaskar,

Great to hear from you. Before providing advice, I do have one very important question. Is there are particular reason why you must take your GMAT in 25 days? I think your score goal is attainable but you may need more time. Once I have that information, we can take things from there.

Hi ScottTargetTestPrep

It has been so long since I started my preparation. And I have been jobless for 11 months, dedicating 3 hours everyday (on avg) for GMAT. So could sustain no more than January 2020. Thank You.
