Based on your username, if you are in India, what are doing up at 4:20 am? 😱 are you still up or up already?

Direct all blame at bb. He made GMATClub so addictive that the poor guy in the post earlier stays up at 4:20 AM to browse the site.

Members here were still discussing "brain fog" or "brain fatigue" years ago.

Not very comprehensive discussions, but here are two sets from 13 years and 16 years ago. GMAT was still causing brain abnormalities in people from ancient human history.

Hi MohitVerma,

There are a variety of different factors that can impact your 'focus' during the Exam - and many of those factors occur BEFORE the Exam even starts. To put yourself in the best possible state during the Exam, you have to consider how you are handling the mental, physical and psychological aspects of everything leading up to the start of the Test. For example, what type of sleep routine do you follow (and is it consistent?)? What do you eat for breakfast - and what might you eat during your breaks during the Exam to help re-energize for the next section? What time of day are you beginning your Tests? Is the week leading up to your Official Exam exceptionally busy or causing you undue stress? Etc. During the Exam, it helps to have a set of specific Tactics that will help you to break each prompt into small pieces - so that you don't get 'lost' in any prompts that are wordier or more layered - and those skills are gained by training for the GMAT in a specific way.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Totally fair 😂😂😂

I was actually wondering about this user’s schedule. I know pandemic has made daily schedules a nightmare and it takes a lot of discipline to and maintain a rigorous study schedule. So when somebody is ghosting at 4o’clock in the morning, there is a good chance their schedule is contributing quite a bit to the brain fog and the issue is not perceived GMAT or GMAT Club though you’re welcome to blame me 😉 but rather something more rudimentary though perhaps more challenging to address.

It’s kind of disappointing they did not respond to any of our comments.... I hope we can help but there’s only so much one can do on the other side of the keyboard...

I can see a scientific paper happening: "Covid19, GMATCLUB, Addiction and GMAT-induced brain abnormalities: Elaborating on a relationship between the GMAT and deadly viruses"

Well, things don't happen in vacuum. "Brain fog" can be linked to everything from personal traits to situations and environments. And the term itself is amenable to distorted interpretations. Generations of test takers have experienced this vague illness. Bodies are piling up

How to deal with brain fog/block and exhaustion during the test ?

Suggestions please

Hi MohitVerma

Try to relax for 30 seconds. Take a deep breath. Get your concentration back. Losing 30 seconds is ideally better than solving questions without the complete concentration.

You can even take more mocks or practice quizzes to improve your focus. All the best :)

Hi MohitVerma,

I have an important question. When you sit down to study, normally how long can you study for in just one sitting?

You should consider getting a medical evaluation. Underlying medical conditions can cause unseen illnesses and impact your brain to function properly. Someone selling their courses is not going to be able to help you. You are better off dealing with medical and scientific experts.

I recommend replicating the test environment while you study. For example, always use a timer, write with a felt tip pen (this one really helped me), study on the computer and in large problem sets, etc. For me, this made the environment feel much more comfortable on test day and I spent less mental energy on stress.
