I'm taking the GMAT today. I'm not expecting to get an amazing score. My company offered to cover any expenses for taking the test *before* I start my new job, so I figured there was minimal harm in studying for the two weeks before I started & then trying my best.
I'm thinking I'll probably just cancel my score (unless a miracle happens), and reinstate it if necessary. The only reason I wouldn't cancel is to take advantage of the GMAT study programs that guarantee to raise your score a certain number of points is you've already taken the test.
Does anyone know if I can just take a screen shot of my score (within 72 hours & then cancel), can I use that for programs (like Magoosh or Princeton) that offer a guaranteed improvement? Eventually want to score 730+ but am expecting to get 600-700 today.
Also, I read that at the test center, you're given a print out of your unofficial score if you choose to accept. If I accept this paper, will I still be able to cancel my score online later?

Hi and a good luck on your test!
Most companies provide a fairly modest guarantee such as 50 or 70 points. I think only the economist provides 100 points but I have not checked for a while.
If you are considering the Magoosh course, they require you to send the score report at the time of purchase. You can provide either a screenshot or a copy of the unofficial report to get in the test center. The easiest thing is probably to screenshot or PDF your Score and then cancel it within 48 hours.
Add the same time, there’s no harm in having multiple scores. Also some business calls such as Columbia, booths and potentially Wharton ask her to list all of your previous test scores which often puts people at odds about listing cancel scores, which you are supposed to list. 😬

PS. Don’t get Princeton. I think they do a good job on the undergrad side but the graduate programs and instruction are not comparable to the products delivered by Manhattan, Kaplan, and Veritas prep

Approximately 2 months ago, you posted that you had scored a 700 on your initial practice CAT/mock (without much, if any, study). Is there a particular reason why you think you might suddenly score 600?
Business Schools generally do not care if you take the Official GMAT more than once, so accepting this upcoming Score is probably fine regardless of how you actually Score (and you can always cancel it in the short term if you have any concerns about it.
If you are ultimately unhappy with this Official Score, then before I can offer you any advice for this next phase of your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) What type of study routine have you followed over the last 2 months? How many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Goals:
4) Is your overall goal score still 730+?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
