Point-wise replies to your queries: -
1. Are schools able to refer to my score which I send them today for my application which I will submit later?
Yes. They can refer but they may not because of scarcity of time.
2. Also, what happens when I retake the GMAT later? Do I get to select which score they can choose?
Yes. You can select the score you want in your application.

Hope it helps!

There is a new option available for people who gave their GMAT on or after October 20, 2021 that allows them to submit their GMAT score to up to 5 schools for free. After that, a $35 per school fee applies. My question is, since I won't be submitting my applications to these schools before April 2022, are schools able to refer to my score which I send them today for my application which I will submit later? Also, what happens when I retake the GMAT later? Do I get to select which score they can choose? Thanks.

If you take the GMAT now and apply in a few years business schools will be able to locate your score when you apply. Also, if you retake the GMAT, unless you have canceled any of your GMAT scores, then schools will see all of them. However, they will consider just your highest score.
