Hi nsa9991
I have got both 6th & 7th (latest) edition and found that 6th edition is the better one.

Thanks!

Hi nsa9991,

The books that you're referring to would be fine to start off with, but depending on your Score Goal and timeframe, you'll likely need to include some additional non-book based study materials in your overall study plan.

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can access 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have that Score, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hello,

I got 2019 Manhattan Prep (6th edition) books a few months ago from a friend who had taken the exam and I am now planning on starting to study. I wanted to know if these books are too outdated and I should be looking for more recent resources, or if I should be okay using these to guide me.

This is also my first post here! I'm looking forward to reading any advice. Thanks and happy holidays.

Hi nsa9991,

Happy to hear that you're embarking on the GMAT journey ! Your question has already been answered pretty well above. As far as the prep goes, it depends on a number of factors, such as the time you can devote each day, the resources you use for learning, your target score, when you plan to take the GMAT and so on.

Ideally, you should start with a clear target score in mind and take a diagnostic test to see how much you need to work to get there. Once you've done that, I'd suggest having a clear study plan that helps you prepare in a structured manner. Start learning the concepts, the application of concepts and the methodologies, and then move on to practicing questions. Keep reviewing your performance and adjusting your approach as necessary. This article will give you a good idea on how to start ->

Don't hesitate to reach out if you need to discuss this in more detail and need help with a strategy to get beyond the 700 mark. I'd be happy to help.
