Hi All,
I have given practise exams multiple times but observed that my growth is stagnated.
I gave GMATPrep..
Following are my scores:
GMATPrep 1 : 590.
Repeats since I would not save the test each time:
17/09/06 --- 620
19/09 --- 610 Q42 V31
04/11/ --- 680 Q44 V38 (Relocated to diff city hence Oct was missed for studies)
12/11/ ---- 700 Q48 V38
GMATPrep2:
25/11/ ----- 640 Q43 V35
After installing S/w:
GMATPrep 1: ---- 700 Q42 V43.
Following are my concerns :
1) Score is stuck at 700 in repeat tests.
2) In fresh test, it is pathetic. ( 640.. slap on my face)
3) I observe that my timing is really bad. I always run short of time esp in Quant section because of which I have to mark blindly atleast 5-6 question in the end. In quant I am really struggling with DS that couples with the time pressure and my noose gets tightened everytime. I am just not able to win against time.
4) In verbal, SC is sucking my blood. I am not able to conquer tense related problems.
I would really be thankful if someone can point to my blind spot which I am not able to hit. I am refferring following books:
1) Kaplan 2006 - Completed - Refer occassinally.
2) Princeton Review - Completed - Refer occassinally.
3) OG11 - PS, DS, SC done but performed really bad in last few tough problems. CR and RC next target.
4) This site. But can't do it diligently since don't hv net connection at home. Has to do it from office.
Can anyone suggest if the above material is enough or do I need to refer more. I had my exam on 9th December, but today got it rescheduled on 27th since I feel I am not prepared enough to take it head on.
I think I keep repeating same mistakes again and again. Any suggestions.
Looking for some inputs from u guys ..

You have pinpointed your three major problems - timing, DS and SC. That's good, as it allows you to focus your training on your weak areas.
1) Timing. Get used to noticing how much time EVERY problem takes you to solve. When you see a new problem - take a glance at the clock; while you work on it - keep looking at clock from time to time. If you see that you've wasted more than 3 minutes - time to make a quick guess and move on. Don't let a single problem eat your time. When you get used to such strict timing and self-control, you'll feel the time even without the clock - at some moment your brain will raise an alert "oops, this one is taking too long! time to guess!". If you're in trouble with getting used to the rhythm - ask someone to sit with you when you do a practice test and shout whenever you get slow.
2) DS and SC. These are two types of problems that are mastered by practice, practice and practice. You have to get used to DS format - to an extent when you no more think "okay, let's try condition A; does it allow me to solve that problem? no; now take a look at B...". You have to see what data you need to tackle the question; then quickly find in one (or both) of the options, mark your answer and go on.
As to SC - you just have to stuff as many idioms and structures as you can into your subconscience. This is achieved by practice as well. After you do 200, 300, 1000 SC problems - you'll feel the answer right away most of the times.
So, search these forums for "DS 1000" and "SC 1000" problem collections. Download them, and start killing your brain.

You are right. I do practise with a clock. I solved the OG with timings.The amount of time I take for a problem depends on the problem type. But sometimes during practise you would not want to skip a problem after 2 mins.
As far as DS is concerned, I feel I have developed a phobia for it. I just don't feel comfortable with them. In practise tests out of 16-18 wrong in Q, more than 10 are from DS.
In verbal, out 10-12 worng around 8 are from SC ..
Is the material I am refferring to suffiecient ?
I think I need more of analysis on my weekness..
What say guys ..? Any more inputs please ?
