Hi everyone,
I just started preparing for the GMAT today. My plan is to write it mid to late March (so 3 months and a bit). I plan to study 15 - 25 hours a week, but realistically in the first couple months more on the lower side. I have the following books/software:
- OG 11th Edition
- GMAT 800 [2006 - 2007]
- Barron's PassKey to the GMAT
- GMATprep
I took a GMATprep test to see where I stand. Mind you, I lacked focus since I haven't taken a test in a long time. I scored 500. Is this a good representation of the actual GMAT?
My weakest points were DS, Word Problem questions, SC, & RC.
Where do you recommend I go from here? Should I work on the OG 11th Edition or the GMAT 800? Or should I be purchasing another type of book before I begin with these?
I would like to get my score to the 700 level. Please provide me with any other suggestions or experiences that you may have. I know there is quite a bit of information on this site, and I plan to use it to the best of my ability and include it as an essential part of my studying.
I hope to hear from all of you on the above.

Leave the Kaplan 800 alone for now... I wouldn't even try to use it until the end of studying if at all...
Go straight to the OG 11, solve every problem, read every explanation... but if you lack basic math skills you should purchase math review book (either MGMAT Quant or Kaplan Math Review) and go to the OG after you are comfortable with basics.
For SC, I recommend MGMAT SC... and keep it by your side ALWAYS... if there is one book to buy on SC - MGMAT SC is it. Read every SC explanation in OG - right or wrong... you pick up a lot of rules and idioms from their reasoning.
Finally, time yourself when you do OG... and after you finish, then go on with other resources... that way you will be able to identify what material is helpful and relevant to the test itself.
Yeah... don't forget GMATPrep and throw away Barron's!!!

U2lover's suggestion is right on point.
I would just add one thing. Since the OG is in ascending order of difficulty, I would work on the first 1/3 of each section first. Absorb everything, then move on to the second third of each section and so forth.
