I work 9-5 and I usually go to the gym straight from work. I was thinking of studying every morning before work, then go to work, and then the gym. The other possibility is gym, work, study. My concern with studying in the morning is being too pumped up from the gym to go to bed early (which I will need to start doing). My concern with studying at night is that I won't be as sharp after a day of work. Any thoughts?
I used to be a night person in college. Then I got old . . . so I can't think straight after 5pm. When I did problems sets at night after post work jog/dinner, my hit rate on problems was very low. Then I would look at the same problems the next morning and wonder how I could have gotten those questions wrong. Studies have shown repeatedly that you are at your sharpest in the morning, before noon. Yes, noon. It's all downhill after that.
It's kind of like sprinting. Carl Lewis once said you only accelerate for about 40 meters. The rest of the way, you're just coasting and hanging on.
The most important thing to do is practice at the time you will be testing. If you have a noon test time, study during lunch. If it's at 3pm or later, take a quick bathroom break and do some questions in the bathroom. Whatever it takes!!! The key is to practice during the same time you will test.
