Hello!
For context, I too am studying for GMAT (Aug end exam and now have scores of 640 which I aim to convert to 750+) and here's how I would approach it if I were you:
1. Congratulate yourself - no honestly! You went from 430 to 550 and thats an achievement in itself! Please appreciate yourself for that. No matter how much 760 debrief you read, the struggle to come close to 600 is real
2. Dedicate 3hours everyday for 2-3 months
3. Your math is lacking a bit on concepts, hence target solving all math content on TTP with in subject quiz + all three levels of practice. All of them. Dont leave any behind
4. Just brush through verbal on it if you feel it isnt great
- the ideal is basics would be covered in this -
5. Now do OG (all three books + advanced) but approach it like this: Do not see the answer till you figure a way. If you absolutely give up then only see it.
Dont move on the next until you have cleared the question. By this i mean spend 5 mins or so on alll things you find hard
Keep a note on questions you did not get even remotely
6. Now take a mock official one if you can - now this is your base score
7. Find 700-800Q doc on the forums and start solving 700-800 problems. Focus on word, properties, inequalities (and your weak areas)
8. Give a mock
9 Go through
MGMAT books10. Give a mock
Through this, your score should be exponential and you can take a call if you need more mocks or another course like
Magoosh to strengthen.
Take note, you need to do this in 2-3 months, or you will be tired of doing it.
Hope this helps!

Hi -
I am on my 6th month of studying (302 hrs.) for the GMAT. My target score is a 700+. So far I have:
- Taken one Kaplan exam (January: 430)
- Taken two OG mock exams (June 560; July 550)
- Completed all TTP content for Q/V
- Completed 62% of the TTP Q problems; 40% of the TTP V problems (advised TTP V questions unreliable for practice)
Here is the score breakdown of my last two OG exams:
- June Exam (560): Q35/V33
- July Exam (550): Q30/V35
I am a little frustrated that 6-months of learning have not yielded the score I want. I was hoping to apply this year round 1 to U. Chicago, U. Michigan, and Duke. I do not need to apply for biz. school this year (I am 2 yrs. out of college and working in a job I love), but I was hoping to get my MBA before I settled down with a family, etc.
The way I see it, I have two options: - Continue to study until I hit my score goal, even if it takes me another 6 months
- Lower my score goal and take my chances applying round one of this year
For either option I would love to get the community's feedback on what study plan makes the most sense given the the details I mentioned above.
Thanks!
