I see an option to request ESR on my account, but my official score isn't released yet. If I request ESR now, then will it contain an AWA score, or is the ESR generated only after the official score is released?

Hi. The ESR will be provided only after the AWA score is available.

PS. At the same time, you can buy it now but it just will not be available until a later time. At least this is how it has worked for the last seven years that ESR has been available.

If you get the ESR and your AWA data isn't available, you may see the following line:

This report is created before your Analytical Writing Essay is scored and will appear
within 24 hours of the exam scores being made official. If the score has been
cancelled for any reason, the information will not appear in the Enhanced Score
Report.

Thank you for clarifying. My guess these are for canceled scores where AWA was not evaluated? (Which is why it takes a little bit of time to restore those cancel score sometimes?)

If you check some publicly available ESRs, for example, some may show the AWA data and some don't. If you get the ESR and your AWA data isn't available, you may see the following line:

This report is created before your Analytical Writing Essay is scored and will appear
within 24 hours of the exam scores being made official. If the score has been

Report.

Hi aytida,

The ESR isn't static. You can download your ESR early (24-72 hours after your GMAT), but at that point, you may not see an AWA score. However, if you try to download your ESR again after your official score has been released, you will see that it (the new copy) contains your AWA score.
