Hello! I recently took the GMAT exam and am considering a retake. I have 2 questions that would really help me in deciding how to go about this:
1. If you take multiple GMAT online exams, is each score report separate? I.e. if I get a 720 and then a 700, both online, can I choose to only send the first score and not have schools see the second one? (This will help me decide if I should take the test online or at a test center).
2. If your overall score is higher but your quant score is lower (e.g. a 750 with a Q45 vs a 720 with a Q49), is it wiser to send one of the reports or both?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi zozoali,
Here's one way of looking at these issues:
1. Score reporting for an online exam is independent of any other online/offline attempts. That said, a test taker taking the regular (not online) GMAT could just cancel a lower second score. Also, what you seem to be worried about really isn't a big deal.
I generally recommend the regular GMAT. The proctors are usually better and more professional, and test takers are less likely to face technical issues.
2. Prioritise total score: A 750 is better than a 720, even with a Q45 (the verbal score would have to be almost perfect, ~V48-V49).
