Hi,
I came across a question where I have to find which fractions have the same number of repeating digits.
I found that 1/33 = 0.03030303...
However, I'm still confused with the long division of this particular fraction.
We put down 0.0 to get the numerator 1 to 100, after which we put 3 to the quotient to subtract 99 from 100 to get 1.
After that, why do we not put down 2 zeroes to get 100 again?
I had previously learned that after the decimal point, we can add a 0 to the dividend without adding anything to the quotient. However, over here we are still adding zeroes, but only once. I definitely need some help out with this basic understanding of long division. Apologies if this seems like a trivial question but explainations and illustrations would help a lot.
