I am restarting my GMAT prep after 3 months. I had given my GMAT Classic edition and gotten a score of 680 (Q47V35) on the 29th Jan. I had been preparing for about 7-8 months and was tired of the prep and burnt out of my wits after I gave the paper. This was my 4th attempt at the GMAT, and since the pattern changed after January, I thought that I would not ever think of attempting the GMAT again. This score was pretty consistent with my mocks scores (there is a reason I mention this). After the score, I thought that I should try to give a GMAT FE cold mock and got a score of 635 (DI77Q81V86). I feel like I have finally recovered from my intense burn-out. I think I can give one more attempt at the GMAT FE because 635 still coresponds to a better percentile than does 680 and since my mock score closely respresented my actual score, I am wondering if I can give the GMAT FE with a bit of prep in the DI part and a brushup in the Q and V to get a better score.
P.S. My Di score is cold as I never really paid attention to IR before and have never actually prepared for it. I have used a lot of resources (
Magoosh [a decent course], Jamboree [the WORST], TTP [such a good one, but I couldn't finish it because I couldn't afford it after 1 month, got through 40% of the course],
GMATWhiz with tutor [half baked course at best, good tutor]) and gone through the OG once (but I think I did not do it as it should be done, I never broke apart each question to make the most of every single question).
I have been prepping, taking about 30 questions from the OG of Quant and 30 of verbal for the past week and I am hitting early 90% accuracy.
I have taken a work sabatical for the next 3 months so I have all the time in the world to go at it.Here are my questions:
1). Do I need to start my preparation from the base up again? I was thinking I could grind out TTP but I think it will be time taking. I want to give the exam within 2-3 months (at max). With TTP, I think I will make every concept iron clad but I don't think it will be efficient.
2). How do I go about diagnosing my strong points and weak points? I have relied on courses to just brute force every concept without an understanding of weak and strong points, but how do I pin point my weakness and work on it by myself?
3). What to do about DI? I have never paid much attention to IR before and DS was decent for me. How do I tackle this part?
4). What score can I realistically aim for here? The highest I have ever gotten in GFE quant is 83, and in verbal is 86. DI is 77 (but I know this score will improve). I think i can go higher.
5). What resources do I use?
Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.
