Hello everybody,
I could really use your advice on my situation.
I've been studying for the GMAT for a whole year now and dedicated hundreds of hours towards it. I do not have a full time job, so I have a lot of time to allocate towards preparation.
My first cold mock was in November 2023, and I scored 330 (Legacy GMAT). After 9 months of prep, I gave my first GMAT exam Online and scored 555 (Q75, V79, DI79). The minimum score that I need for my school is 565 so I thought I am very close and could get my desired score in the next exam.
Fast forward to December, I gave my second GMAT exam and ... scored a 545 (Q76, V79, DI 76). Even though it was a good attempt, I thought I lacked some strategies to get my desired score, so I got a tutor.
Tutoring for me is very expensive but we worked on verbal for a couple of hours. He said that my improvement in reading and verbal should also translate in Quant and DI sections. And, for verbal, it actually did work - it increased from V79 to about V81-V83 in my mock exams. I have been studying 4-5 hours every day for the past 3 months, surely I will hit my target score on the 3rd attempt, right?
Fast forward to today, my third GMAT attempt. I had a good sleep, good breakfast, and I felt confident that I will do well in the exam. Quant was not difficult but verbal was a huge challenge - I had 3 back to back RCs! Has anybody had this? And to finish everything - a super wordy and lengthy DI section. Total score - 535 (Q77, V79, DI73).
I will be very honest - I am losing hope to get in my dream school. I have exhausted my Official mocks - the scores ranged from 525 (once) to 595 (4 times), exhausted my GMAT Club exams (did not score below 595), done all of TTP and I have gone through the Official Guide TWICE.
It's super discouraging to see my score lower than it was in November/October.
If you are still reading up to this point and you were in my shoes, what would be your game plan forward? I have 2 more GMAT attempts until the deadline for my school ends. Would you get a tutor? Target weaknesses?
Should I switch to GRE?Thank you..
