Thank you AjiteshArun

Tagging KarishmaB and IanStewart - Hi, would really appreciate if you could let me know key things to keep in mind for quants test strategy and any useful resource given my ability is at Q78 right now and I am targeting Q82+
In the one week that I have, should I solve all questions referenced in the GMAT quant book or is it too advanced. My challenge is I get the hard type questions fairly right but struggle with few basic initial questions that pop up in the actual exam. Like I dont even know which topic it is under and I haven't come across it in my prep. How do I cover those questions?

So I have decided to take a shot and give my exam again on 9th Feb, now that I have a week, how should I prepare what should I do? I just hope to score 645+

I can really use some help with test taking strategy, I just seem to take a long long time on the first 4-5 questions of verbal, I just dont seem to get the answer quickly even though I am relatively good in CR.

My weakness is Quants, any quick tips, resources or video links?
Hi sammmmm56,

We normally don't want to spend too much time on any particular group of questions, but that's not completely out of our control. A time management strategy could help us prevent that from happening (or recover, by guessing on later questions).

Check whether you want to take another practice test before the actual GMAT. It could help, especially since you may not remember some of the little things to be done during the test (like implementing your time management strategy). Maybe a few verbal practice tests to help you lock your timing down. For quant, you could also tag KarishmaB and IanStewart.

All the best!

sammmmm56, as for resources, I usually do not suggest any new material in the last one week. Continue working with whatever prep material you have been working with. You don't want to get confused in what you already know.
Since you feel that sometimes you are unable to solve the easier, more straight forward questions, I would suggest you to practice a bunch of official Quant questions (OG, GMAT Prep, Review Guide as sources) from all topics till 645 level. When you come across questions in which you are unable to figure out the topic getting tested, check the solution given and you will know which topic you must revisit. Work on this for the next 3-4 days.

Following are some do's and don'ts for the last few days:

2-3 days before the test

1. RRR
Review - Don’t do anything new but review your notes/error log
Rest - Ensure that you get enough sleep
Relaxation - Try to go for a walk, listen to calming music, do not take any full length tests, do your routine exercises

2. Check out your test centre beforehand, if possible. Location, traffic, choke points, centre ambience, washroom access etc. Familiarity brings in a lot of ease.

3. Avoid socialising and late nights parties. Stay in, stay calm, avoid alcohol and outside food. Stick to your routine.

During the Test

1. Be prepared for anything. You may get back to back 3-4 RC sets, 5-6 DS questions etc. It’s ok. You may get 2 MSR sets. It’s ok. Don’t get frustrated. Focus on the question at hand at all times.
2. Do not leave any question unanswered. You must confirm each answer and reach the Review and Edit page for each section for your answer to count.
3. Do not invest more than 2-2.5 mins in any question. Mark for review and move on. Come back to it later. If it is hard for you, you won’t get much penalty for getting it wrong. Here is how to use the Review and Edit option: https://anaprep.com/purpose-of-review-and-edit-option-on-gmat/
4. Ensure you take your break and eat something in it. The test is draining. You will need energy for your last section too though your mind would want to give up.

Hi sammmmm56,

To improve your quant skills, you may find it helpful to engage in topical quant practice.

For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant topics.
