Scoring 605 on the GMAT was a mixed experience for me. While it is an improvement from my previous attempt, I know it does not fully reflect my potential. This attempt taught me that consistency and decision-making during the exam matter more than just conceptual clarity. I handled some sections better than before, but time management—especially knowing when to let go of tough questions—still impacted my performance. I also realized that pressure in the final stages affects my accuracy more than I expected. That said, this score gives me confidence that my preparation is moving in the right direction. With more focused work on weak areas, better pacing, and simulated test conditions, I believe I can push this score higher in my next attempt. Willworkhardand givemocks.

Hi everyone,

I just finished my first attempt at the GMAT and got a 645 (with my most recent mocks being 685 and 665) with my score breakdown being Q79, DI82, and V86.

This seemed fairly aligned with what I was getting in my mocks prior to taking the exam other than my quant section. And even throughout the the exam, I felt as though the quant section was easier than what I've been practicing with.

From what I remember, I feel like I've struggled with the following topics the most: algebra, ratios, word problems

Plus it seemed like everything that I was super prepared for didn't show up on the exam (such as mixed solutions, distance rate, work rate, combinations, etc.). I typically averaged around 81-83 on my quant section but not sure how to best proceed till my actual score report comes out and even if it does, would I know if it was due to a silly mistake or a conceptual error?

Looking for advice on how to proceed going forward since my next attempt will be in approximately 22 days and I've exhausted a lot of the algebra questions. Thank you!

Your 645 test score and your 665 and 685 mocks scores indicate that you already have a solid command of much of the GMAT content.

So, from here, it's a matter of identifying and strengthening all remaining areas of weakness. So, be sure to thoroughly analyze your practice tests and practice sessions to identify those weaknesses. Then, for each area of weakness:
- Carefully review all of the properties, formulas, techniques and strategies related to that topic
- Locate and answer dozens of questions that test that topic.

For each question you answer incorrectly, ask yourself:
- Did I make a careless mistake?
- Did I incorrectly apply a related formula/property/technique?
- Did I fall for a trap answer? If so, what was the trap exactly?
- Was there a concept I did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your skills. This process has been proven to be effective for all topics.

Hello goonjoon,

With just 2 weeks to go, here are 4 key tips to make the most of this final stretch:

Revise your notes; focus on strengthening what you have already covered; now is not the time to chase new material.

Stick to official resources and mocks as these are the closest in tone, difficulty, and format to the real test.

Align your routine; get your body clock in sync with the actual exam slot (sleep, meals, focus hours).

Stay positive; confidence and calmness are often underrated but can make a big difference on test day.

For deeper guidance, here’s an 8-minute video we’ve prepared on final-phase strategies:

All the best!

When your score reaches the mid 600's on the GMAT Focus, it points towards your problems being primarily around test taking skills (not as much conceptual gaps).

The reason it feels like a bit of a mystery still is that test taking skill gaps are harder to diagnose because they are "hidden" from score reports, topic performance stats and other things contained in the ESR's.

Get that total clarity about your remaining gaps depends on deep diagnostics that analyse your approach to questions as your are solving them.
