- Step 1: The "Cold" Start (Baseline)
Before you study a single formula, you need to know your starting point.
Action: Take one Official ETS PowerPrep Online Test. This test isd FRE and is the best thing you can do to help yourself to assess where you stand in terms of GRE score. It does not matter it will be great or a disaster. Does not matter. Your goal is just this: understand where you stand in terms of GRE score. The Official software is the best thing money can buy even though it is totally FREE.
Why: This is the most accurate representation of the actual exam logic and difficulty.

- Step 2: Build Your Foundation
If your Quant or Verbal scores weren't where you wanted them, start here. Do not jump into hard questions yet. Here is the most important phase of your preparation. You just entered into the GRE land and you have to split your eyesight into three specific directions, for which I'll give you a specific resource that will provide you with EVERYTHING you need for
- Quant: here , basically you have three options
- Go first with the Math Handout GRE Math Essentials - A most comprehensive handout!! [COMPLETED] and use the several directories we do have for practicing quant 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7
This way, your goal is to improve your quant skills from the ground up, without compromises. The end goal of this strategy is to bring you to the mid-upper level of the quant side of the GRE.
- The GRE Math Book - ADVANCED Quant should be your next stage pf the game. There is also the PDF version of the same: GRE Math Book PDF Edition
- If you are in need of tips and tricks, please refer to our The Definitive Shortcuts Guide NUMBER SYSTEM / The Definitive Shortcuts Guide ALGEBRA / The Definitive Shortcuts Guide GEOMETRY
- Verbal: here , basically you have two options
- Go with the GRE Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence Definitive Guide to know everything you must know to tackle the difficulty sentences in the verbal section of the test.
- To master the reading comprehension challenge represented by the GRE passages, which, by the way, are quite nasty most of the time, ETS is really a champ at crafting great passages and questions. Use GRE - The Reading Comprehension Definitive Guide
- Vocabulary: here , basically you have two options, considering that the vocabulary on the GRE is a necessary evil but also quite important to achieve a great score
- the main resources with all you need, both the vocabs and the practice in context, are the two lists accessible at The Definitive GRE Vocabulary Masterclass with two lists: one with 3k words and practice sentences and another with 7k words and quite near so many practice questions
- the other one is our directory GRE Vocabulary - All you NEED Words/Study Lists/Resources
- Step 3: Targeted Practice (The Drill Phase)
Once you know the concepts, you need to practice them. Use our directories to focus on your weakest areas.
- The Directories: Instead of doing random questions, use the GRE - The MASTER Directory for Practice Questions UPDATED 2026. Over time we created several challenge directories thanks to our vast archive of questions. We do have
Over 16,000 (thirteen thousand) quantitative reasoning questions.
Over 8,000 (six thousand) verbal reasoning questions
- Daily Engagement: Join the Daily GRE Quant & Verbal Questions. It's one question a day to keep your "GRE brain" active without taking up hours of time.
- Step 4: The "Fine-Tuning" (The Error Log)
The difference between a 160 and a 165 is rarely "knowledge"-it's usually "logic."
- Action: Use our GRE New Error Log with Ability and Accuracy 2.0 Version. For every question you miss, record why you missed it. Was it a trap? A calculation error? A vocabulary gap?
