How are you using AI to study for the GMAT?

ChatGPT has become an invaluable part of my GMAT prep. I keep all my study conversations within one project, which allows it to retain context and help me identify recurring mistakes in my reasoning..

I’m also experimenting with using AI to automate my error log, which was always one of the most tedious parts of studying. My goal is to spend less time organizing mistakes and more time understanding and correcting them.

I’m curious how others are using AI in their preparation.

What has it been most helpful for?

And where have you found it unreliable or potentially harmful?

Would love to hear about any prompts, workflows, or tools that have genuinely improved your studying.

I use it, but less than I expected going in. Where it's actually helped is generating extra practice explanations after I already got a question right, just to sanity check my own reasoning, or rewording a concept I sort of understood until it clicked properly. Quant especially, since there's usually one clean way to verify an approach and AI is decent at that kind of check.

Where I'd push back a little is CR and RC. The GMAT writes trap answers on purpose, they're built to sound right to someone reading too fast, and in my experience AI tools are inconsistent at explaining why a trap is a trap instead of just restating the argument back at you in nicer language. I stopped asking it to grade my CR reasoning for that reason, it felt like agreement more than an actual check.

Data Insights is the one section where I'd guess AI could genuinely pull weight, since a lot of it is pattern recognition across a table or graph. Curious if anyone's found a prompt that's actually useful there rather than just a summary of what the chart already shows.

I find it really helpful in automating my error log. I wrote a skill that takes photos from my phone, tags it with helpful info (question type, difficulty, error reason etc.) and it helps me spot patterns in my mistakes

Not sure if I am of much help but I mainly think of AI as a tool that will help me organize and better prepare myself for the questions. At the end of the day the community itself has plenty of tools that allows you to study and prep for the exam.

I do not recommend having too long of a chat as the biggest problem with AI platforms is the "memory" they have. They tend to loose track and I tend to treat it more as a guidance than anything else. This has been the tools or functionality that has helped me the most currently. Hopefully I was of some help :/
