Your work experience and CFA Level 2 are strong points, but the 43% in B Com will be the biggest issue. A 700 GMAT helps, but for LBS and INSEAD you should aim higher if possible, ideally 730+ to give yourself more room.

You should still take the GMAT rather than ruling yourself out now. The bigger question is whether you can show career progression and explain the academic record without making excuses. Also look at schools such as Oxford Saïd, Cambridge Judge, HEC Paris and IMD. A strong score will not erase the 43%, but it gives the admissions team evidence that you can handle the academic side of an MBA.

I am planning to appear for GMAT in like 2 months. But before that I wouldblike to know if its worth it given my academics and work ex. 85% in 12th/ 43% in B.com/ CFA level 2 cleared. I have 5 years of experience as a credit analyst, including 2.5 years in a CLO fund which is all middle office research work. I want to switch to front-end private equity or CLO fund or a credit focused hedge fund. Almost all the firms I have come across hire from these top B Schools. But I do not want to waste my time and money on GMAT prep if there is no chance because of my poor undergrad score. I am targetting round 2/3 of current cycle or round 1 of next. Target B schools would be LBS / Insead. Is there any other school that I should target? Will a 700 GMAT mask my poor undergrad?
