I just retake GMAT and I scored: 400(Q:30, V:16). First time (a month ago), I scored 380 (Q:27, V:16).
Here what I did:
I purchased Manhattan Book for SC, RC and CR and I took six GMAT CAT from MGMAT and I got 460, 520,520, 480, 510, 530. In ALL of them I got higher points in quantitative than verbal and I also took GMATPrep and scored: 500, 520.
I noticed that the level of difficulty of verbal questions are similar to Kaplan (I did not use Kaplan at all, but I think I should have use it.)
Thus, please let me know what can I do to get improve my score (I am thinking to get private tutor). I am planning to retake the test on September 2007. My goal is to get around 600!

Sorry about the exam.I have also taken GMAT twice (430,560),so I kniw how it feels.But since you are prepared to take it again and you are in the right website you will surely improve your score.
Read posts by BB,Kidderek,Hong hu and vivek for information and advice.You do know you have a lot of work ahead of you.Check my post titled Game Point Theory and tell me what you think and if it helps.Most people do not ace the Gmat on the first try or even after retaking it in a month.Alot of the 700'ers(excuse my parlance) studied seriously for about 3 months.
There is nothing to fear you are capable of getting 790 on yor next Gmat,so there is nothing to do but studying and finding ways to score 700+ .Goodluck.

I would definitely consider a tutor or a prep course.
