Hello,
This is what I could do best , not bad I must say, for a non-english native speaker.
Should I think about retaking it? My goal is a college where the average GMAT is 630...
THE MOST accurate practice results I got from OG:
test1-680 (Q49 V35)
test 2-660 (Q47 V34) the evening before the actual GMAT
Others:
Kaplan-test 1- 560 (Q39 V29)
Kaplan -test 2- 540 (Q34 V28)
Mgmat- 610 (Q44 V31).
The only useful tool I got in studying was OG11 since I totally disagree with Kaplans' book's methods.

The Important question is:
How does your profile compare in terms of other facets of the application compared to the class profile at your school.
If your profile is competitive, then getting into this school shouldnt be difficult for you with a 640.
If your profile isnt competitive then you should retake the GMAT.
Mind you, essays aren't easy to write.they take up a lot of your time..

The GMAT is not the only factor in determining your acceptance into a school. If you are targetting top 10 schools, I would say, yes you should retake. However, a high GPA, great recommendations, great WE, and awesome Essays can offset a relatively low GMAT.
The best thing you can do is research the average score and/or 80% range of your target schools.
