KAP 800

Question

How do you guys feel about the math in this book? Are the word problems hard easy?

Some are really easy. Some are easy, but I just make stupid mistakes. Others are hard, until I realize oh duh.......

I am working through the book right now and finding it to be rather easy as well. I expected much harder. I also have found a number of errors in Kaplan material, so at times, I don't trust them.

How about problem 11 on page 329. Is the answer A or E. I may be wrong, but I think they botched it.

I have found the Manhattan online questions that come with each book much more difficult and helpful.

I was very disappointed by Kaplan 800 book because of very easy math. It was a waste of time for me. Especially I hated the phrase "let's pick numbers" instead an explanation. Verbal section was a bit more useful for me because English is not my first language, but again I didn't find anything new in the book

In general, I wouldn't recommend this book.

P.S. I've just looked at problem 11 on page 329 and noticed noting wrong in it. The right answer is A: ( 2*d/sqrt(2) )/ ( 2*Pi*(d/2) / 2 ) = 2*sqrt(2)/Pi

I really liked Kaplan 800. Listen, you have to understand where you're at when you're trying to score 700+. A majority of math questions you solve will be easy for you, but you tend to make the simple mistake, or know one way to do it, just it takes longer than you want. Just because you can do it, doesn't make it an easy problem, or a poor book. I was getting between 90-95% correct in Kaplan 800, and yes, some of the explanations weren't that great. But really, sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to pick numbers, so don't discount this method. 

In all, I think that Kaplan 800 Verbal is better than the quant, but the book is a good book.
