hi mrsmarthi..

I think you are too much into the details of which tests are the best to predict scores. There can be n number of arguments about why one scored higher in gmatpreps and why not on the real test...why should one always 'feel safe' by assuming that a gmatprep score is always inflated and so on...i guess it is all about building the confidence and nothing else (if we consider +-30 as a tolerance)..thinking that gmatprep scores are inflated and being sad or skeptical is a negative approach..instead be positive, 'assume' gmatprep is the closest to the real test, sort out your mistakes and just blow away the real test :) BTW thats just my opinion on taking such CATs and it works for me.

Well said Economist.I wouldn't deny any of the points that you said.I do agree that GMATPrep is the closest to the real GMAT. But here is my opinion on how I view GMATPrep.

a. "A TOOL" to judge whether I am prepared for the real GMAT.
b. How is my timing, stress and energy levels toface the CAT exam
c. what are my real weaknesses
d. where all do I have scope for improvement.

Atleast from my exp, before I went thru OG12, my GMAT Prep range was between 590 - 630 and now it is 690+.I wouldhave crossed 700+ if I were little careful. I definitely can take it as a positive sign which boosts my condifence level. But at the same time, I don't want to see any inflated score hiding all my weak areas. In this situation, I cannot agree that GMATPrep can judge your score with a +/- 20 variance, which most of us agree.

Probably I will rephrase my question - How can we judge ourselves that we are ready to take up the real GMAT?

Opinions are welcome.

This topic has been frustrating for me too. I read an entire Kaplan book only for preparation. I took 2 Kaplan CAT Tests online and scored a 690 & 760 on those. I decided to take the GMATPrep and scored a 710. I took MGMAT and got a 730. Finally, I took the Princeton CAT and got a 710. I am not sure what this stuff means. I did think that the GMATPrep was by far the hardest Quant Section that I have practiced. I just bought the OG 12 so hopefully, I will get more familiar with those math questions before I take the real thing in October. Anyways, any words of confidence/horror/assurance/ridicule?

Also, I just took the diagnostic in the OG 12 Review book and I only miss about 1 question per section. Missed 5/49 Q & 4/51 V. I do not really know how to study these last few weeks. I get the basic stuff but just miss a few questions no matter what. Any suggestions on honing in those last few points? I am only taking this test to apply to one school, Stanford, so every question counts!!

PS: I plugged my scores into the GMATClub GMAT score estimator and it predicts me at a 760-800 range. HA! I wish!
