Thanks buddy for your responses.

Yeah, I am quite in a unique situation. I have taken the GP and scored 660,640 and 720 , and already have 650(Q49,V31) , the inconsistent results in this re-take is what is worrying me.

I need to cross 710+ and hence all this dilemma.

I would wait for others response as well.

Thanks again for your inputs.

Got the answer to one of my queries :
https://www.mba.com/mba/thegmat/schedule ... hetest.htm
I dont have option to take the test and cancel, since in that case I will have to wait for 31 days before taking the test again.

So, I guess I would have to cancel the test without taking/getting any refunds.

Just pasted the above, in case someone falls in this unfortunate situation.

best,

Hi All,

I have finally decided to cancel the test on 18th and take few more weeks to improve and get consistent scores before taking the date for real test.

However, I have 1 question if there is any difference in the following :

1.I take the test and cancel the score
2.I dont take the test and Cancel the test.

In options 1, will it show on my records that I took the test ? will it be different from exercising option 2 ?

What I am trying to see here is : since I am anyway going to loose $250, so why not take the test, feel the real environment and time pressure and cancel the score. The experience will definitely be helpful in my upcoming test in Dec'09 .

Your inputs would be most helpful.

Would really appreciate any advice from Gurus.

Hello tripatsu,

You're taking the wrong approach here.

The exam fee is now a complete sunk cost, whether or not you take the exam. If you reschedule, you can consider the $250 fee a donation :) .

If you take the exam, don't feel too well about your test and cancel, the schools WILL see a score cancellation. ALL attempts at the GMAT WILL show up, scored or canceled. Once you see your score, THEN you can no longer cancel the score. You will be given the option at the end of the exam to cancel or see your score. There is a difference in your question above. If you cancel the appointment, nothing will show up on your score report. If you take the exam and cancel your score, a canceled sitting will show on your score report.

Honestly, a week is not much time to study and reassess, more so when it is close to exam day.

My advice:

Finish your prep, but remember to take it easy the day before the exam. Take the test and see your score. Use that score as a working point, assuming the score is unacceptable.

Best of luck,

Thanks mohater for the detailed response.

IN fact this is what I received from another friend as well. For the reasons that it will show up as attempted test on the GMAT Score Card, I have decided not to sit in the exam and cancel it. I will make the $250 as donation to GMAC, a not-for-profit company :-)

You are right 1 week will/may not make much of difference, I am accessing on my strengths and working on the weaknesses. I have heard multiple times on this forum that GMATClub Tests are good resource, I will taken the free one and see where i stand.

Thanks again.
