Hi All,
I took the gmat 7 months ago and got a 450, totally flopped it. Studied the manhattan gmat books and took it yesterday 3-10-2010 and got a 540.

I did get up to a 630 on the CATS.
That was my second time. I've been out of school 2 years. I am not a 650 gmat person. My scores ranged from 530-630 on the 6 CATS I took, with 540 being the actual.
Will any schools consider a 540 gmat??? I do believe that at some point we all must do what we're best at and my time will come, but should I consider a program with a 540? Or will any programs consider me? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I think taking the GMAT for a third time would not be very sensible. I did study for a bit.

540 is actually 50th percentile, so you are as average as it gets 
A number of schools will take 540 but it will be hard to get into the top 50.

One safe option could be signing up for a Knewton course. I am not going to say it will improve your score, but it does have a 50-point guarantee, so unless you get 590 or higher, you are pretty safe taking it.

What does "I'm not a 650 person" mean? Why can't you become a 650 person? I'm not trying to belittle your score at all (I know the test is difficult), but maybe the problem is your mindset. I think with the right preparation, an average tester can improve to the mid 600s.
I agree with bb, your score is right in the middle, and yes, some schools will consider it. I have friends in top 30 B-schools with 600 even on the GMAT. Whether you should retake the test depends on which schools you're planning to apply to.
