So I don’t post here too much but I do read a lot of the advice given. As such, I have a couple of comments and questions that maybe everyone else can help out with.
I’ve been studying for the GMAT for the past 2.5 months. I started off with 510 on the gmatprep test and recently scored 640 on the
manhattan gmat test. While I am glad about my improvement so far, I have scored 640 on the last 3 tries and have been unable to budge my score. Despite studying and reading various posts about how to do so, I feel like my efforts are in vain. Has anyone else successfully dealt with such a similar problem or does anyone have any tips/suggestions at all? It would be greatly appreciated.
Also, when I look back at the SAT, I scored fairly well and based on where I was percentile-wise, it seems like I am doing far worse on the GMAT especially given how much time I have put into it. Is the GMAT designed to be a tougher test than the SAT, or are the average people who take the GMAT generally more qualified than those who take the SAT? It would be great to here a thorough comparison between the two if anyone has thoughts. It would also help me understand that I didn’t get a lot less smart after college.
Finally, my goal is to get past the golden 700 mark that everyone talks about. I have aspirations to get into a top 10 MBA program and when I talk to my peers in investment banking, many of them are unsatisfied with scores between 690-720 and are studying for their tests again to get in the 730-760 range. Am I mistaken into thinking that 700 isn’t enough or are my peers overly concerned?
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
