So here's the frustrating situation:
3 GMATs:
1. 600
2. 680 (Q55%,V95%)
3. 670 (Q72%,V80%)
Last year I applied to 4 schools (Sloan, Haas, Kellogg, Anderson), and was summarily rejected from all except Kellogg, which I battled it out through to the death march (Summer waitlist). The score I applied to was #2 above, the unbalanced 680.
To give an overall picture, I think I have a a shot (GMAT score aside). I won't go into details here unless necessary, but I'm happy with feedback I've received from adcoms on the rest of my profile (gpa, recs, essays, career, ecs, etc).
I will be reapplying to some of these schools again this coming cycle and broadening my search to include safeties.
I basically didn't study verbal at all this time around (me = dummy), drilled the hell out of quant since that's my weakness, and still came up disappointingly short. I didn't have much Math during undergrad, excepting Stats, but I did recently take Stats and Calculus at a community college, both with As.
Sobstory and background past us now, my questions are:
1. Which score should I report? (I know 680 is the the bottom of most 20% ranges, but, more pointedly, it is INSIDE them whereas 670 is not)
2. Should I consider a retake? (I've heard straight from the adcom's mouth that 3 times is generally the preferred ceiling. On the other hand, I'm a little surprised by the 670 as the majority of practice tests, including GMAT Prep and even the dreaded
Manhattan GMAT were 700+)
