Hello,
This debate has been pounding around in my head these past few months and I can't say I've really resolved it yet. Would like to hear from any re-applicant homeslices out there about what you might have heard or decided on:
Do I keep my older, stronger stories or do I use new, weaker ones to provide "more information"?
I've read some pretty mixed opinions about this from MBA essay support sites. From what I've gathered this might differ by school. Ex. I've HBS literally tosses out your old stuff, which makes it easy, you just resubmit your strongest profile.
Where it gets harder are schools like Kellogg or Haas which say they keep your app around and "may refer back to it". This is where the controversy seems to start, some folks saying schools will only go back "if there is cause to", others saying they'll do a comparison between the two.
Any thoughts, strategies, grizzled anaconda scars to share?

Just in case it might help the thinking process of any other reapplicants out there for this or future app seasons, the strats I settled on for Berkeley and K are:
1. For the essays I stuck with my strongest stories, but rewrote them to show new aspects.
2. I relied on the re-app essay to showcase the new me, sprinkling stories here and there throughout other essays and especially on the resume so I can bring those points up in the interview.

IMO, you stick with the stronger story. However, you can edit it a bit to make it stronger. For example, as you said, you can show new aspects that you didn't talk about. Also, you can try to be more memorable by making the essays more anecdotal. In any case, my hunch is that schools rarely re-read your old application essay. They have tons of applications essays to go through with limited amount of time, so I doubt they will spending the extra 10 minutes re-reading your old essays. What is more likely is that they'll refer back to the notes they took about you during your last attempt. So addressing some of the weaknesses in your last application may be helpful.
