Hi Everyone,
I just want to get some different opinions / advice. Here's my profile:
GMAT: 670, Q46, V37
Degrees: BASc in Chemical Engineering, Option in Management Sciences; MASc in Chemical Engineering
Experience: 3 years work experience in the consulting / project management in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry
International experience: I have only done a 4 month internship in Germany, and the rest is Canadian experience.
I would like to do an MBA, mainly to switch industries to investment banking or strategy consulting. I applied to INSEAD earlier this year and was rejected. I'm looking to apply to the MBA program at the London Business School. Should I retake my GMAT and aim for a 700+ score? I only studied for about a month the first time around and I think I am capable of getting 700+. From my profile, do I even stand a chance of being accepted?
I am currently working on my PMP and PEng (Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario, Canada) and will receive it in the next few months. Should I try to reapply for INSEAD based on these additional credentials and assuming I retake the GMAT and get 700+?
And if I DO retake the GMAT, should I only send the score AFTER I find out to ensure I get above my previous score?

If you think that you can score 700+ by retaking, by all means go for it. I do see two other potential issues from your post. One, you said your goal is to either get into IB or do strategy. Did you put that in your essays to INSEAD? Business schools want to you know what you will do when you get on board, so it would help you tremendously if you focused on one goal, and set your short and long term goals around it. No one will force you to get into the field you picked in your essays should you have a change of heart later on.
Two, you are mentioning that you are on your way to getting an engineering certificate. With your current goals, I don't see how that matches up? Don't get me wrong, it's a great thing to have and you should have it, but I don't think it would be a "selling point" to an adcom other than showing that you're dedicated enough to get a certificate in your own field.

One thing I know for sure is that on the INSEAD website they mention that re-applicants are not welcome. So you may want to look into that. I am a PMP and P.Eng from Ontario as well, but my goals align to it so I thought it was a good idea to get it.
