In a bind reference-wise. Please allow me to explain >>
- The only references I can get from my present employer would be from people who have a vested interest in keeping me at my present position -- a decent employer too (an i-bank). So if I give them any hint that I'm interested in an MBA, I'm afraid they'll stop investing in me / giving me much importance. That would really suck if I wasn't able to get into a program but still had to continue working here.
- On the other hand, if I don't list current employers / bosses as references on an MBA app, it would seem logical for a red flag to pop up for an admission officer.
Not sure how to handle. So I pose the question to the forum.
Have any of you faced this situation? If so, how have you dealt with it?

The adcom realizes that many students are in this kind of situation. You should list everything in your resume, and just get the best letters of recc you can. You can try to explain in your essays. Having a gap in work experience would seem like a bigger red flag to me.
