I talked to some students at CBS and they mentioned that a lot of IB firms still expect (or at least request) applicants provide their grades despite the school's grade non-disclosure policy.

But I think this is a bit unique to that industry.

Also, you can put things like "dean's list" on your resume, which will give employers an idea of whether or not your in the top of the class.

Thx, so you actually get grades on your transcript in all those schools? I heard some only have "pass" or pass with distinction?!

That would be Yale I believe. They have a pass/fail system in place. Most schools still give you grades even if they have a non-disclosure policy. I don't know how much it really matters overall though depending on what you are recruiting for. The "hard" part of consulting/IBD recruiting is done in the fall while you are taking your set classes (if your school has them) and you wont even have grades to speak of until you make it to the interviews. Truth is most people get full time offers from their summer internship unless they screw up. I certainly wouldn't use that as a factor for deciding between one school or another. There are far more important things to thing about.

To add to this, if you *are* worried about grade disclosure at a school, go to an admissions event and ask a current student if they have ever been asked for their grades by a recruiter. I will bet you $10 that unless they are recruiting for IB, the answer is "no". Firms take the fact that you've been admitted to a top tier school as evidence enough of your academic ability.

At Wharton GND has been in place for quite some time now. Some professors complain as there is evidence that people take academics less seriously than before.

Disclosing grades while recruiting is a no-no. Most companies do not even attempt to ask; if asked, no need to disclose grades at all.
