Is there any reliable statistic out there that shows, for instance, that x% of, say, HBS interviewees are given an offer?

It is typically a 50% chance after you get interviews. The best thing to do is see percent of applicants interviewed and then percent of applicants accepted. I do not know any school that admits students that are not interviewed. After that its simple division to get percent. You could probably do historical numbers by going back a few years or just find the average across top programs.

Sandy has a chart on his blog for HSW interview rates, although I have no idea which class this is reflective of. Either way, getting an interview to any of these three schools is nonetheless impressive.

Columbia... it's something like 55% of interviewed get offer... Harvard is I think roughly the same.
