Hi everyone ,
This is my first forum post on my mba journey! I'm in the process of getting all of my school selections finalized and starting a packet for recommenders. I have been at my current company for a little over two years. I know that my current supervisor will write a recommendation for me and will be able to touch on a lot of important skills and traits. I've only been working under her for about 8 months, but I've taken on more responsibility and tackled bigger projects during that time.
But now I'm a little stuck on my second recommender. Do I...
Do most schools frown on peer-reviews? I work very closely with a small group of colleagues and think that any one of them could provide a more unique perspective on my leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

- ask my previous supervisor at my current company? I'm not sure if she would be able to provide an alternative perspective and I don't want my recommendations to be redundant.
- ask my former boss at my last company? I worked there from 2009-2011. But my position there was very junior and highly administrative. I've grown a lot both personally and career-wise. On the flipside - I know that he thought very highly of me, my work ethic, and the work I did there. He's an experienced recommendation writer as well.

Thumb rule is to have supervisors write recs unless school asks it from peers (Stanford). Schools might not 'frown', but you may need to use optional essay to explain. From your post, it seems that your previous supervisor would be your best bet.

Though from your post, it looks like your previous supervisor would your best choice, but you can also check with the admissions consulatants of your target schools on their take on this issue. If you think that your previous supervisor would not remember much about your performance, take a sheet of paper and jot down your achievements. Then discuss those achievements with her before she fills your recommendation form.
