I'm an Indian/Female/26 with around 5 years work experience spanning technology and marketing.
I'm done with my GMAT finally (760 - q50, v41) and have started looking at colleges that would be a good fit for me. I'm looking at a career in Product Marketing with a technology company (a role that will help me leverage my technology experience as well as my marketing experience) or a Consulting role skewed towards Marketing/Human Capital Management.
After doing some preliminary R&D (going through countless Linkedin profiles, lurking on forums and talking to some of my friends from B-schools), I've realized that Kellogg, Wharton, Booth, Haas and Duke are the kind of colleges that I want to target. But:
1. I've heard that as an international applicant, it is difficult to get accepted to B-Schools when you say you want to get into marketing as B-Schools doubt that international (especially Indian) students have the right perspective for Marketing. Alternately, I've heard that such perspectives might exist for Brand Management positions in marketing (maybe), but this will not be an issue for someone looking at a career in Product Marketing. Since I've gotten mixed reviews, I wanted to get some clarification on this.
2. I realize that the schools I've mentioned are pretty selective schools and are in T10, so I want to know if people can suggest other schools which have good marketing programs, preferably schools where companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Intel, IBM, Cisco and Deloitte recruit for Marketing positions. I've heard good things about Ross, Cornell Johnson and UCLA but haven't been able to speak to any current students/alum there. If someone can throw some light on this, I'd be grateful.
I'd appreciate inputs from current students/ alum /experts. Thanks in advance!
