Undergraduate experience

Question

Hello everyone! I'm Matt and I'm from Italy. My question is: How much influence does your undergraduate program have in an average application? I mean, i'm currently in my second year of school in a PUBLIC school (studying Finance), but lots of public schools, even if great in teaching and organizing stuff, are not considered top schools (like Bocconi here for ex.).
My GPA is very high at the moment and I'm planning to take the gmat this autumn but i'm not confident about my application (what bschools really look for in the recuitment process) for highly competitive msc in finance, expecially LSE, Warwick, LBS and so on.. Can give me any advice? Thank you for replying.

What work experience do you have? Internships? Admissions committees want to see you putting your business knowledge into practice.

I'm 20, I have never had an internship in a bank because recruiters want to see previous work experience in other banks or top companies and this is another problem! I have done tons of humble jobs on summer but they can't be evidenced on a cv! Painting lamp posts or prune trees won't help me this time! How can I jump out of this situation? Thank you very much

You might want to find a way to work on gathering that experience. But if you want to apply using your current experience, just be deliberate about how you package it. Highlight the entrepreneurial aspects. Did you name your price? Did the employers hear about you from word of mouth? Advertising (in a post on some classified or anything like that?) Etc.
