Hi,
Thanks for visiting this thread.
I am looking to apply to MBA programs for 2016 entry. Below are my stats:
Education - BA Eco-Stats from India and MSc Financial Econometrics from UK(1 year)
Work exp - 1 year in consulting and currently working in Deloitte Corp Finance Advisory (will have 2 years of work exp in june 2015). Work exp has been in India. However exposed to International markets due to nature of work.
GMAT - taken in Sept 2014 with 660 score
MBA program - looking at 1 year MBA (due to family situation, cannot give 2 years to a MBA prog)
I am looking at the following MBA colleges
ISB
INSEAD
LBS
Kellogg
Oxford
Emory
Uni Florida
Babson
Cornell
Columbia
HKUST
Queens's
Ivey
I understand some of the above MBA programs are tough to get into, but no harm trying right?
I am looking to give GMAT again this year to push my score to 700+ since I have only 2 years of work exp.
My questions are as follows:
1. When would be an ideal time to give the GMAT? I am thinking May/June since applications would start in Sept. Is it ok to push to June?
2. Which is the ideal cycle to apply to? I am an international applicant so I understand visa processing will take time. How much buffer should I keep for interviews, admission decisions and visa processing?
3. Can anyone throw light on some of the above MBA colleges? I come from a consulting/advisory background and post MBA I am looking to get into strategy or consulting. I do want to work abroad as well. I went to UK with the hopes of working there but the markets were so bad that I was unable to get a job. Although my Uni was well ranked for Eco in UK but it wasn't as popular as the other unis. This was also a major disadvantage (which I came to know of only when I went there). Could you guys throw some light on the rep of the above mentioned Unis?
4. What are your thoughts on 1 year MBA program for an applicant with my background? Considering I am not looking at changing industries, but just moving up the career ladder, I don't think I should be at a disadvantage if I go for a 1-year program. What are your thoughts though?
5. I have studied in English medium schools and colleges in India and my MSc program was in UK. Will I be required to give TOEFL/IELTS?
6. Lastly, do you guys know of any other good 1 year MBA programs?
Would really appreciate your reply.
Thanks!
