Hello people..I just completed my bachelor's degree from one of the leading business schools in Pakistan with a decent GPA(3.5)...I had decent EC's in my uni being in an international student cub..however now I have moved to Saudi Arabia and currently working as a financial analyst.. I have already completed CFA L1 and would complete the whole CFA program..I still haven't given the GMAT although I am confident I will score well.I plan to do an MBA in the next five years .I am still 21 so I have a lot of time however, the environment here does not allow expats to be involved in extra curriculars and I am worried that by the time I apply for an MBA I wont have anything to write abut my extra curriculars in my applications..I just wanted to ask what sort of extra curriculars could I do during this period..My passion lies in sports and reading historical books.Would writing online blogs be a extra curricular?? Thanks

Firstly, this is something I am hearing for the first time. If that's true then I don't think admission committees would not consider limitations on you doing community work in a foreign nation, given your decent involvement in community work in the past in your home country. That said I would also like to mention here that extracurricular activities do not only mean community work. You can think of them as activities you engage in outside of work; Pursuing your hobbies, involvement in sports, helping other peoples, writing blogs, etc.

What sort of limitations are you facing? There are a lot of different things you could do outside of work to improve your profile and many could be done remotely so your physical location limitations wouldn't be relevant. Consider the actual activity and how it relates to either your overall story or something you are very passionate about. Too often applicants do things that, while impressive, don't match with their profile. You should also think of quality over quantity for extra-currics.
Activities can come in the form of something as simple as mentoring or providing strategic advice to organizations, to name a couple.
At this point, focus on consistency and leadership in whatever you do. You should be able to find things to do remotely and feel free to contact me for more ideas. [email protected]
