Hello,
I was wondering if I should always give examples from my career to answer MBA application essay questions. For example, for the question "Describe the most difficult decision you had to make and its impact on you". Can I give an example from my personal experience or does it have to be something that happened to me at my work place?

You don't have to limit your answers to work experiences. Sharing anecdotes and examples from your community involvement, sports, passions, and personal lives can help make your application more personal and present your profile in a well-rounded manner.

It depends upon what the rest of the essay questions are. I always believe that your work profile should be very well presented. If you have got enough opportunity to do that through the other essays, resume and recommendations, then it's absolutely okay to write a personal story.
If this is your biggest story and there are no other essays, try to address how you were able to use the learnings/ attained skills in a business setting.
