Hi,
I am writing to request some advice from fellow Gmatclub members about who I should use as recommendations. I am currently a teacher after having fallen into the position through need of employment two years ago.
Previously I was in marketing/communications with a nonprofit and a paralegal at a law firm. My career path is diverse, yet I know that in order to close my career gaps and to return to the marketing/communications field at a higher managerial level, I need an MBA. The feedback I have received on job interviews is my lack of solidified experience. I believe that with an MBA, I will gain the business acumen and quantitative resume necessary to demonstrate my understanding of the ever-changing marketing world.
My question is: who should I ask to write my recommendations?
Unfortunately, my last job was terminated because the nonprofit's ED did some shady things, and therefore, the organization could not sustain my position. This was two years ago and I will not ask the previous ED to write me a recommendation.
I was thinking my current department head and a woman who was the program director at the volunteer organization I worked with two years ago. I am particularly close with her.
What do you all suggest? Should I reach out to other teachers, perhaps the Stats profession from a summer course I took recently, or colleagues at other jobs that I have worked at?
Thanks so much for ANY feed back!
