Hey all,

I was wondering if the office location in which I would be doing my work experience would affect my admissions. I don't want to move to a major city post-graduation and looking for smaller cities to work. Will this adversely affect me? If so, how can I mitigate this? Or can I spin this positively?

I'm a little confused - are you in college now and thinking about where to move, wondering if there might be some adverse effect when applying to an MBA program down the road? If you are able to readily obtain employment that allows you to develop leadership, teamwork and problem solving skills then no real problem.

The problem is, if the job does not work out then what? Post-MBA I moved to a very interesting marketing job working for a newspaper in a small city in upstate NY.
If that job had not worked out my alternative would be Wendy's or Burger King. Have money set aside so you can move to a city ASAP if things do not pan out as you hope.

For some schools like Tuck or Cornell, they might really like that you enjoy living in a smaller city, and see that as an indicator of good fit. But for CBS or Booth, the opposite applies.
