Hi, had a quick question about re-using application assets. I've heard some mixed things about the topic. Re-applicant to The Consortium (increasing my schools from 2 to 6). My main things that held back my application was my GPA and GMAT. The former I've mended via alt classes and MBA Math. The latter I bumped my grade to a 670...retaking again next week before apps too. My essays I don't think were a reason for rejection. In fact, one of the schools kept sticking around for months hoping I could bump up my score.
To be honest, I don't have anything truly compelling to say that's new. My goals for the MBA are exactly the same. Life experiences? Same. My position this year has been fairly uneventful...I helped them improve on metrics and push the program further, but no real challenges noteworthy (my past 2 positions had a lot more interesting challenges and examples that I already used in my application).
The first school had 3 essays: Why MBA, backup plan, and a struggle I dealt with. All of these really haven't changed.
Second school was Ross and they had those short questions that you could choose...that's an area I can easily redo by picking a whole new question.
Then the mission essay is more of a slight update than a change. I'm volunteering at a local organization that I can mention. Otherwise, it's exactly the same.
Finally there's the core essay. Again, my story really hasn't changed....at all.
I guess it comes down to that there wasn't really a whole lot of drama to talk about this year. I can talk about the effort I did to improve my application but that's more for the alt essay...
What should candidates do when they already did a pretty solid essay the prior year and not really a whole lot to talk about in the next year?
