As round 1 is now over, we decided to analyze admission trends observed in R1 based on the data reported on decision tracker.
This analysis is based on self reported data so I advise to use findings of this analysis with discretion. They are meant to give only a general idea of admission scenario in R1. Don't presume that these findings will hold true all the time.
We will be carrying out this analysis for top 23 US and 4 int'l schools in 4 phases - M7, Super Elite, Elite, Int'l MBA programs. In this week we have analysed acceptance trends observed at M7 schools and presenting them in this thread very shortly.
We welcome any comments, opinions, suggestions or anything else that you might have to say about the findings of this analysis.

Admission Trends at M7 Schools
These seven are most competitive schools. Every year thousands of applicants apply to these schools but only few get admitted. Last year Harvard had received 10351 applications of which only 1021 were admitted; Numbers speak for themselves! These are the most coveted MBA programs on the earth. Since their admission stats are very different than all other top schools, we decided to keep them in a different category.
- Stanford continues to be most competitive business school in M7 category.
- For HBS, Stanford, and Columbia, the gap between % on invited to interview and % admitted is smaller than other schools. It indicates that if you get invite from any of these schools, you have a greater chance of acceptance after interview than other schools.

GMAT Score and Acceptance
- Getting admitted in to a M7 Bschool is tough and the chart below clearly shows the intensity of competition. At best you can have 23% chance of acceptance.
- 700 GMAT score is a norm in this category, not exception. Among the 688 applicants we considered for this chart, 92% had GMAT score of 700 or above.
- If your GMAT score is 740 or above and if you get interview invite from these schools, then you have 50% chance of acceptance.

Haas | Tuck | Yale | Darden | Fuqua | Ross | UCLA | NYU Stern | Johnson
We are in the second week of our series of analysing outcomes of round 1 apps at top US and international business schools. This week we have analysed decision outcomes of top 9 US bschools besides M7. NYU Stern came out as the most competitive school in this category followed by Berkeley Haas.
For Ross Stern, and Yale, the gap between % on invited to interview and % admitted is smaller than other schools. It indicates that if you get invite from any of these schools, you have a greater chance of acceptance after interview than other schools.
